Common questions about seeing a chiropractor or physiotherapist at Absolute Health. Can't find what you're looking for? Give us a call.
Allow about 45 minutes. Your practitioner takes a proper history, examines you, explains what they find in plain language, and in almost all cases starts treatment the same visit. You can read the full rundown on our what to expect page. Book online
No - you can book directly with our chiropractors and physiotherapists. HICAPS is on the spot for private health rebates. The only time a referral matters is Medicare care-plan (CDM/EPC) bulk billing, which needs one from your GP.
Yes - we have two Sunshine Coast chiropractic clinics, one in Mooloolaba and one in Nambour.
Comfortable clothes you can move in. If we're assessing your knee or hip, shorts make things easier - but we have private rooms and gowns, and we'll always work with whatever you're wearing.
Life happens - just call as early as you can and we'll move your appointment, usually to the same week. Giving us a few hours' notice means someone in pain can take your slot.
Yes - we use HICAPS for on-the-spot health-fund payments, so you only pay the gap. We're also a preferred provider for Medibank, BUPA, AHM, HCF and many more, which means a significantly lower gap when you see us. More on payment options → Book online
Fees depend on the type of appointment and whether X-rays or other tests are included, so we quote them when you book. Call us for our current fee schedule, or read our full guide to chiropractor costs in Australia. HICAPS is on the spot, so with private extras cover you only pay the gap - and eligible Medicare care-plan patients are bulk billed.
Fees depend on the appointment type and length, so we quote them when you book. Call us for our current fees, or see our guide to physiotherapy costs in Australia. HICAPS rebates are processed on the spot, and eligible Medicare care-plan patients are bulk billed.
Generally Medicare does not cover chiropractic and physiotherapy in Australia, and treatment is considered privately funded. In specific cases your GP may refer you for a limited number of bulk-billed visits under a Chronic Disease Management plan. Learn about bulk billing → or speak to your GP.
Yes. We regularly treat WorkCover and motor-accident patients, and we are a registered NDIS provider at both clinics. Bring your claim or plan details and we'll handle the paperwork side with you.
You can choose for yourself, particularly if you have a preference. If you'd like us to advise you, give us a call - our reception team is very good at guiding you to the right practitioner, and if you prefer, one of our practitioners can call you back (at no charge) to discuss your case. Most adjustments are comfortable, and the popping sound is just gas releasing from the joint - nothing is cracking. Every practitioner here is AHPRA-registered, we explain each technique before using it, and gentle low-force alternatives are always available if you'd prefer them.
No. You'll get an honest diagnosis and a realistic timeline, and you decide how far to take it - we measure progress objectively rather than asking you to take our word for it, and our chiropractors use MotionIQ motion analysis to do it. At your initial consultation we'll do a thorough history and examination, and arrange any scans, X-rays or imaging if required. Once we have an accurate diagnosis we'll discuss the findings and a recommended management plan with you. Until we've formulated that diagnosis and plan, it's impossible to say exactly how much treatment you'll need.
There are no guarantees with physiotherapy or chiropractic, so it would be dishonest to offer any. What we can assure you is that we'll approach your issue with the highest level of professionalism and expertise. If we feel we can't help, we'll tell you and refer you to someone who can. One real benefit of our clinic is that the combined chiropractic and physiotherapy approach often gets results when one alone may not.
Yes - with techniques adapted appropriately. Chiropractors Julie Hunter and Jenna Smith have a special interest in pregnancy and paediatric care, and our physiotherapists see mums and kids every week.
Only if it is clinically indicated - most patients don't. When imaging genuinely helps, our Mooloolaba clinic has a full-spine digital X-ray on site at a fraction of the dose of conventional film, so you can be imaged and treated in one visit.
Both medication and conservative care (chiropractic and physiotherapy) have their place. It's best to discuss your situation with the practitioner, who can advise on a case-by-case basis. We also work closely with your GP and/or specialist where needed.

All of our chiropractors use MotionIQ routinely, so if you book with one it will normally form part of your assessment and we will re-measure later to show how your movement has changed. Our physiotherapists do not use it as a matter of course. If you are booking with a physiotherapist and you specifically want a MotionIQ assessment, please ask for it when you book and we will make sure it is included. More about MotionIQ and why we measure movement.
Same-day appointments are often available at our Mooloolaba and Nambour clinics. Book online in under a minute, or give us a call.
